Each year, the editors of Choice, a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, select materials that represent the best scholarship available for undergraduate library collections. From approximately 22,000 titles reviewed annually, the editors choose the top 10 percent to be designated as outstanding academic books.
The University Libraries' Notable Books Program was established to provide funds for the purchase of these valuable resources. The program provides Mississippi State supporters an affordable opportunity to enhance undergraduate education through contributions to the program.
The purchase of books identified as notable will enhance the book collection and advance the libraries' goal of membership in the Association of Research Libraries.
All gifts are tax deductible and will be acknowledged by a letter of appreciation from Mississippi State University Libraries.
Donors may make a general contribution to the acquisition fund or select a specific Notable Book for purchase. If a specific title is chosen, a nameplate will be added to honor or memorialize the person of the donor's choice.
For more information about the Notable Books Program, e-mail June Breland, collection development officer, at jbreland@library.msstate.edu, or call 662-325-7672. The library's web site has a listing of Notable Books and information on how to become involved at http://nt.library.msstate.edu/notable/notable.htm.
