Harry Boschert and Mable Thomas |
Two Mississippi State alumni were honored at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet in January for their service to the university through local alumni chapters.
Receiving Distinguished Service Awards for 1997 were:
- Mable Thomas of Jackson, who never attended Mississippi State but who has been a longtime supporter of the university. In 1986, she retired from the Mississippi Highway Department after 25 years of service and now devotes herself to supporting the Bulldogs full time. In 1993, Thomas was the first winner of the Central Mississippi Chapter's Ridge Thompson Award for her service to the chapter as a member of the board for more than 15 years.
- Harry Raymond Boschert of Greenville, who received his bachelor's degree in animal husbandry from Mississippi State in 1955. He currently is a regional loan officer in the Greenville office of Stapldiscount and has been an active farmer for 28 years. Boschert has been a member of the Washington County Chapter since 1955, serving as president in 1989 and 1994. In 1995, he won the Washington County Alumnus of the Year Award.
