

Association names eight as Alumni Fellows

Eight leaders in government, private business, education, and industry from Spokane, Wash., to Atlanta have been named Mississippi State University's 1995 Alumni Fellows.
Coordinated by the Mississippi State Alumni Association, the Alumni Fellows program brings former students back to campus to share their insights and experiences with current students and faculty members. Each is selected annually by their college or school and carries the title permanently.
This year's group, which visited campus March 26-28, includes:
- Dr. Mark Akin of Collierville, Tenn., owner of Akin Equine Veterinary Services, College of Veterinary Medicine. Akin received a bachelor's degree in animal science in 1982 and a doctor of veterinary medicine in 1986.
- Fred H. Bayley III of Vicksburg, retired director of engineering for the Lower Mississippi Valley Division/Mississippi River Commission for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, College of Engineering. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1953.
- Cecilia Reese Bullock of Jackson, president and owner of Historical Replications Inc., College of Arts and Sciences. Bullock received a bachelor's degree in 1969 and a master's degree in 1994, both in English.
- Dr. Joan M. Butler of Starkville, director of Family-Center Programs for the Starkville School District, College of Education. Butler received a master's degree in elementary education in 1971, an educational specialist degree in elementary education in 1975 and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction in 1981.
- David L. Hall of Slidell, La., retired special projects officer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, School of Forest Resources. Hall received a bachelor's degree in forestry in 1961 and a master's degree in wildlife management in 1962.
- Sen. William T. Hawks of Hernando, managing partner of Hawks Farming and Mississippi Senate member from District 1, College of Agriculture and Home Economics. Hawks received bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural economics in 1968 and 1970, respectively.
- Davis K. Mortensen of Fayetteville, Ga., executive vice president of building products for Georgia-Pacific Corp. in Atlanta, College of Business and Industry. Mortensen received a bachelor's degree in industrial management in 1956.
- Gregory Tew of Spokane, Wash., assistant professor of interior design at Washington State University, School of Architecture. Tew received a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1986.
