Mississippi State's head baseball coach has been selected as an assistant coach for the 1995 and 1996 USA Baseball teams preparing for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Ron Polk, the winningest coach in Mississippi State and Southeastern Conference history, will be third-base coach and instruct in base running and infield play. He has served on the USA Baseball coaching staff on four previous occasions, and was head coach of the USA Pan American team in 1991.
Polk just completed his 20th season at Mississippi State and has posted an 803-377 record with the Bulldogs. His overall career record as a head baseball coach is 959-441. His Mississippi State teams have won four conference titles and played in the NCAA Tournament 13 times, including four College World Series appearances.
In January, he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
