Introduction |
As the development of the central academic core, the interior loop road, and campus clusters of excellence proceeds according to a master plan, it will be imperative to coordinate utility services to all areas in a manner that limits the expense of constant change and provides balanced distribution of all systems. Utility planning should incorporate LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards and guidelines of the U.S. Green Building Council. Current utility studies include additional chilled and hot water generation facilities, electrical generating facilities with co-generation capability, abandonment of all steam use except for local generation at Perry Cafeteria (fill and seal steam tunnels), fiber data distribution vs. wireless, alternative source of irrigation water, emergency power source, energy conservation measures and standards, security lighting, storm water, and below-grade utilities planning. |
