Academic advisers' program set for Oct. 15

A Roundtable Discussion for Academic Advisers program is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. The discussion titled "Special Considerations When Advising Freshmen," sponsored by the Advising Center for Entering Students (ACES), will take place at the center located in Lloyd Ricks Annex north, prior to the official beginning of the Spring 1994 preregistration sessions on Oct. 27.

Academic advisers and staff members assisting department heads and/or advisers are welcome to attend.

Participants and their topics include Sara F. Valentine, coordinator of graduation and athletic certification, Registrar's Office, to discuss AP, SIE, and CLEP credit in relation to regular credit earned; Jerry Inmon, director of admissions, to discuss students admitted with deficiencies, limited enrollment hours, and developmental course requirements due to Board of Trustees regulations; Diane Daniels, instructor and coordinator of developmental courses, to discuss coordination of the developmental courses requirements, including test-out opportunities available to students; Dr. Jerry Reed, professor and interim head of Mathematics and Statistics, to discuss students placed into MA 1103 along with the rationale of the department, including discontinuation of math placement test; and Dr. Mary Ann Dazey, associate professor and director of freshman English, to discuss placement of students into EN 1003.

Dr. Patti Abraham, associate professor of business education and member of the ACES Advisory Board, will serve as moderator.
