Frankel will discuss cultural variances, the issues of self-plagiarism, ownership of data and authorship, and the larger context within which scholarly and scientific research is supported, conducted, and used.
Lunch will be provided immediately following the workshop at no cost to participants.
Dr. Richard Koshel, dean of the Graduate School, suggests that because seating is limited, a few graduate students from each program should attend and share the information with fellow students.
Frankel will follow up the morning session with a small working group for faculty members interested in integrating principles of scholarly and scientific ethics into the curriculum and ensuring that issues of ethics and integrity are instituted in the laboratory. This session will be limited to 25 participants and will be held 2-4 p.m.
Graduate students should call the Graduate Office at 325-1622 for more information or to reserve a seat; faculty members should call Angela Corder, Office of Sponsored Programs, at 325-7404. Registration will be limited and seats will be reserved on a first-call basis.
The program is jointly sponsored by the Office of Research, the Graduate Office, and Academic Affairs.
