Beekeepers swarm to campus
for a honey of a meeting

The Mississippi Beekeepers Association will hold its annual meeting Nov. 19 and 20 at Mississippi State.

More than 100 beekeepers from throughout the state and the Southeast are expected for the meeting, which will be in the main auditorium of the School of Forest Resources Building.

The meeting begins with registration at 10 a.m. on the 19th and concludes the following day at 2 p.m. No registration fee will be charged.

Highlighted on the agenda are two major topics that can cause production problems for beekeepers: Africanized bees and parasitic mites. Other topics include beekeeping techniques, honey marketing strategies, and legislative updates on honey imports and price supports.
