Forde named senior practitioner for PR organization

Dr. John Forde, assistant professor of communication, was named a senior practitioner at the recent annual conference of the Southern Public Relations Federation in Birmingham. Forde is a member of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, one of four state chapters that comprise SPRF.

Criteria for receiving the honor include recognition by peers as a veteran public relations professional with high ethical standing. In addition, a recipient must qualify in three of the following four criteria: 15 years of public relations experience; accreditation by the North American Public Relations Council member organization; past officer or board member at the chapter, state, or SPRF level; and recognition of professionalism through receiving such awards as Practitioner of the Year, Lantern Award, or a similar honor.

Forde has served as state president of PRAM for the past two years, as local president of the Golden Triangle Chapter, and was the charter president of the Starkville/Mississippi State Chapter in 1992. He was named PRAM Practitioner of the Year for 1992.

Forde, who holds a doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi, teaches public relations classes and an internship class in the Department of Communication and advises MISSCOM, a student communication and public relations organization.
