

Dr. Bill McDaniel, who currently holds the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs, has announced that he will retire July 1, 1994.
Committee members include:
Frances N. Coleman, associate professor and assistant dean of libraries and coordinator of special collections, Mitchell Memorial Library; Mary A. Dazey, associate professor of English; Robert M. Ford, professor of architecture; Stanly Godbold, professor of history; Phyllis Gray-Ray, associate professor of sociology; Keith Hodge, professor of mechanical engineering; Robert B. Leiter, dean and associate professor of continuing education; Edward E. Milam, professor of accountancy;
William A. Person, associate dean of graduate studies and professor of curriculum and instruction; Linda Pote, associate professor of veterinary medicine and chair of the President's Commission on the Status of Women; Gloria H. Reeves, director of Career Services Center and instructor of counselor education; Lucinda Rose, associate professor of curriculum and instruction; Walter N. Taylor, head and associate professor of agricultural education and experimental statistics;
Joe F. Thompson, professor of aerospace engineering and director of the NSF Engineering Research Center; Jessica B. DeGroote, a junior in political science; and Linda Coats, teacher at Mary Holmes Community College, member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and former officer in the Black Alumni Society.
The search committee members were selected from 98 nominees submitted to the president through the Faculty Council.
The position opening will be advertised in The Chronicle of Higher Education Dec. 8 and 15 and Jan. 5 and in the December issues of Black Issues in Higher Education and Affirmative Action Register.
Review of applicants will begin Feb. 1, 1994. The anticipated date for filling the position is July 1, 1994.
"The committee and I are committed to finding the best qualified candidate for the position," Zacharias said in a letter to administrators and faculty members announcing that the search has begun. "Please assist us in identifying a broad pool of applicants by nominating or encouraging application by outstanding individuals you know who would provide leadership in this important position."
