Solomon was nominated for the honor by the association's Louisiana-Mississippi section because of his "established reputation as an active scholar and respected participant in mathematics education at the local, state, and national levels."
Solomon has served on numerous MAA committees and as a member of the group's Board of Governors. He also has served as vice chair and chair of the Mississippi Teachers of College Mathematics.
He was one of six section nominees honored by the MAA nationwide.
