

Continuing Ed announces teleconferences
A series of one-day professional development teleconferences are scheduled during November and December.
Offered through the Division of Continuing Education, the live television programs will feature nationally recognized experts delivered via satellite. Each program is interactive, giving participants the opportunity to call in questions.
The teleconferences include:
- Commuter Students: Who's in the Driver's Seat? Nov. 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Memorial Hall. Faculty and student affairs professionals will learn how to understand and communicate better with commuter students.
- Black Studies at the Crossroads, Nov. 30, noon-2 p.m., Memorial Hall. The course offers an in-depth look into the past, present, and future of black studies departments in higher education.
- Peter Senge: Applications of the Learning Organization, Dec. 5, 1-3 p.m., Memorial Hall. Senge is the author of The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organization.
Continuing Education will sponsor a national broadcast from Mississippi State. "Langford: Quality and Learning, The Next Step" will be transmitted 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 from the University Television Center. David P. Langford will discuss the challenge of eliminating academic grading systems and replacing them with intrinsic systems for monitoring quality learning. The program is part of the "Total Quality Management in Education" series presented by the Public Broadcasting Service's Adult Learning Service.
