Mississippi State plans March 4 'Discovery,' counselor recognition

Several thousand high school and community college students from around the region are expected on campus March 4 for the spring semester "Discovery" program.

An "appreciation day" for high school guidance counselors is planned for the same date. More than 1,400 have been invited to the program sponsored by the Office of College and School Relations.

Registration for both events will begin at 8 a.m. Prospective students will sign in at the second-floor lobby of the Colvard Union. Counselors will register at the Leo Seal M-Club Center at Scott Field.

Students can pick up information about admissions, housing, financial aid, campus organizations and activities, and other topics during the "Discovery" registration. Following a 9:30 a.m. general assembly program in Lee Hall Auditorium, they will be free to visit with representatives from their intended academic major.

For the counselors, a program at the Seal Center also will begin at 9:30, concluding with a noon luncheon given by President Donald Zacharias. Campus tours will be available during the afternoon.

For complete information about both programs, call the Office of College and School Relations at 325-3076.
