The day, recommended by the Employee Relations Committee, will honor professional and support staff at the university. The second-year celebration will be held 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Amphitheater.
Anyone wishing to help with the event was urged by committee members to get in touch with Trish Hughes, Development Foundation.
In other action, the council approved a proposal for the major gifts campaign. The proposal reads, in part, "The Mississippi State University Staff Recognition and Development Fund shall be used for recognition and development programs for non-faculty employees of Mississippi State University. Programs which may be supported ... include ... staff awards, general employee recognition projects, staff appreciation days, and staff development and training programs. The fund shall be administered according to the guidelines of the MSU Foundation Inc. The use of the proceeds from the fund will be determined by the Professional and Support Staff Advisory Council."
