Breast cancer program set for April 5

A women's health program focusing on breast cancer awareness will be held April 5 at 6 p.m. in Simrall Auditorium.

Dr. Mary L.S. Gaines, radiologist at Oktibbeha County Hospital, is the featured speaker. The program is sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Breast cancer is the leading killer of women aged 35-54. Women have a one in nine chance of developing breast cancer, and the risk is rising. Until a cure is found, the best weapon is early detection.

Donations will be accepted at the program for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The foundation's mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment.
