Kaminski chosen outstanding college alum

Kaminski

Dr. Richard M Kaminski, professor and wildlife researcher in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, has been named the oustanding alumnus of the College of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Kaminski, who is nationally recognized for his research with waterfowl and wetland management, received his B.S. degree in wildlife management and biology from UWSP in 1972. He earned a master's and a doctorate from Michigan State University, and served four years as a research biologist in Canada for Ducks Unlimited.

He joined the Mississippi State and MAFES faculties in 1983 as waterfowl specialist. He co-edited a book, Habitat Management for Migrating and Wintering Waterfowl in North America, which won an outstanding publication award from The Wildlife Society.

Kaminski has published widely and served as associate editor for the Wildlife Society Bulletin, the professional journal of The Wildlife Society. In addition to his research, Kaminski teaches and serves as graduate student adviser. His research and service to Mississippi State were recognized with the 1993 School of Forest Resources Service Award.
