Forde to head national business education group

Forde

Dr. Connie M. Forde, associate professor of business education at Mississippi State, will lead the 14,000-member National Business Education Association in 1995.

Forde was one of two candidates nominated by the Southern region membership for the position elected by the board of directors. She is the first Mississippian to head the group, which is composed of members from five U.S. regions.

"NBEA is the largest professional organization in the nation devoted to individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business," she explained. "The organization provides programs and services to enhance professional growth and development."

Forde has been active in NBEA, serving as a member of the executive board, and a member of a number of committees, including Policies and Procedures, Program of Work, and Membership. She also has been a member of the Presidents' Council.

She is a member of the Mississippi Business Education Association and of the Mississippi Association of Vocational Educators, as well as the academic honoraries Delta Pi Epsilon and Phi Delta Kappa.

In 1993, she was nominated for the outstanding teaching award in a faculty recognition program sponsored by the Mississippi State Alumni Association. She has been recognized with an outstanding educator award by the Mississippi Business Education Association and with an outstanding leadership award by the Southern Business Education Association.

Forde has taught at Mississippi State since 1987.
