Staff council gets office space, secretary

At the June meeting of the Professional and Support Staff Advisory Council, members were informed the Department of Human Resouces Management will allow the council space to store files in its building at 518 Russell St. The department also will provide access to its conference room and install a telephone.

While the conference room is too small for the entire council to utilize, it would be available for committee meetings.

Although council members voted to pursue office space of their own, at present they will continue to meet at the Physical Plant, located conveniently near human resources.

In addition, permission was granted for the council to hire a quarter-time secretary to handle administrative duties. The secretary would be housed in the human resources building.

In other business, the council recently named committee chairs for this fiscal year. They include: Fringe Benefits, Karon Makamson; Compensation, Peggy Childers; Employee Development, Jesse Quarrels; and Employee Relations, Patsy Douglas.
