Four finalists to interview for alumni director post

Four finalists for the position of Executive Director of the Alumni Association will be interviewed on campus this month, said Dr. Billy Ward, vice president for institutional advancement.

The four were recommended for interviews recently by a 12-member search committee including representatives of the Alumni Association and the faculty, administrative staff, and student body. About 50 applications were received from across the country.

Those to be interviewed and the dates of the sessions are:

Anthony W. Gustwick, vice president for alumni relations and director of the alumni annual fund for the Louisiana State University Alumni Association, Sept. 11-13.

Lofton K. Stuart Jr., assistant vice president for alumni programs for the University of Tennessee statewide system, Sept. 15-17.

T. W. Hudson Aiken, vice president for development and external affairs at Louisiana Tech University, Sept. 20-22.

John V. Correro, associate director and interim executive director of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association, Sept. 26-28.

Interview schedules for all four candidates will include meetings with representatives of the Alumni Association Board of Directors; deans, directors and campus Alumni Council representatives; the Executive Council; the staff of the Alumni Association office, and local alumni, Ward said.

Anthony Gustwick has worked in alumni affairs at LSU since 1980. He previously held alumni affairs positions at the University of North Texas and at Texas Tech University. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech.

Lofton Stuart has worked for the University of Tennessee statewide administration or Knoxville campus since 1972, shortly after receiving a bachelor's degree at UT-Knoxville.

Hudson Aiken has held his current position at Louisiana Tech since 1990. He had previously served as vice president and chief operating officer of the Louisiana Bankers Association. He is a Louisiana Tech graduate.

John Correro has been a staff member of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association since 1969, serving as associate director since 1975. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Mississippi State.

The next executive director of the Alumni Association will succeed Steve Grafton, who left the post earlier this summer for a similar position at the University of Michigan.

The Alumni Association serves more than 80,000 graduates around the world. It has about 75 chapters in Mississippi, about 30 elsewhere in the United States, and several in other countries.
