Remy

Adviser honored with top fraternity award

Keith Remy, faculty adviser for the Mississippi State chapter of FarmHouse social fraternity, recently was named Master Builder of Men at the International FarmHouse Fraternity biennial conclave in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The award is the highest the fraternity bestows upon an alumni member. It was presented to Remy "in recognition of unselfish leadership and help to his fellow man, both within the fraternity and outside."

Remy was nominated for the award by alumni and active members of Mississippi FarmHouse. He has served as the Mississippi State adviser for the past nine years and played a key role in planning and building the new chapter house, completed in 1991 on the new sorority-fraternity row.

Currently, Remy serves as senior publications editor in the Office of Agricultural Communication, Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine. He was initiated into FarmHouse during his freshman year at Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural journalism. He later served as director and president of the Iowa FarmHouse Association.

FarmHouse was founded in 1905 in Missouri as an all-agriculture fraternity emphasizing scholarship, hard work and service, reflecting its motto: "Builder of Men." Although it is no longer exclusively for agriculture students, the fraternity retains its name to indicate its pride in its agricultural heritage and the principles upon which it was founded.

There are FarmHouse chapters on 32 campuses in the United States and Canada.
