Environmental conference scheduled

Nationally recognized speakers and exhibitors will be on hand for the Southern States Annual Environmental Conference in Biloxi Oct.18-20.

Discussions and exhibits will concentrate on such issues as water/wastewater, hazardous waste, nonhazardous solid waste, pollution prevention, innovative and emerging technologies, wetlands/sediments, air, solvents, risk communication, economics, federal issues, energy efficiency, regulations, and equipment.

Conference hosts include the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's Multimedia Pollution Prevention Program, Mississippi Technical Assistance Program at Mississippi State, the Department of Defense Joint Interservice Regional Support Group South-2 Area, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Co-hosts are Environmental Protection Agency Regions IV and VI and the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Some 200 attendees and 200 exhibits are anticipated at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center.
