Mississippi State offers course via Community College Network

A semester-long course that focuses on evaluating agricultural and extension education programs begins this week on the state's Community College Network.

Launched last July, the network links the state's public community colleges, the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The course will be transmitted from the studios of Mississippi State's Television Center to community colleges on the network. Those enrolled will communicate with instructors by electronic mail, fax and telephone. Registration for the class was Jan. 10.

The course is designed for extension agents, agricultural education teachers, and agriculture business and industry professionals. It will focus on the principles of evaluation and procedures used to evaluate programs in agricultural and extension education.

It will be broadcast from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays through May 9. Instructors are professors Michael E. Newman and Gary B. Jackson of the Department of Agricultural Education and Experimental Statistics. The Division of Continuing Education is co-sponsor.
