Before joining the Mississippi State family as assistant director of recreational sports three months ago, Virginia was the farthest south Mark Garneau of Massachusetts previously had traveled. Before coming to Mississippi, he received a master's degree in higher education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. Prior to W&M, Garneau attended the University of Lowell in his hometown on a swimming scholarship. He says the best part of his new job is the interaction with students. When off work, he spends time competing in triathlons and working with Habitat for Humanity. His favorite television show is "Quantum Leap" and George Will's "Men at Work" was the last book he read.
