Dr. Linda Southward, associate professor of social work, has been named the Social Work Educator of the Year by the Alabama/Mississippi Social Work Education Conference.
She received the award for her "impressive record of exemplary service and commitment to social work education."
Besides teaching in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, she is director for the social work program. She also chairs the Women's Studies Committee.
Southward joined the Mississippi State faculty in 1989. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.
