She will replace outgoing national president Burton B. Hosch Jr., president of Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Natchez.
"I am honored to be elected national president and look forward to 1996 with great enthusiasm and excitement," said Rhoades. "I am sure it will be a year filled with many opportunities and challenges as we work with our university administrators to promote Mississippi State University and higher education in Mississippi and beyond."
Rhoades said that during her term the alumni association will focus on increasing support for the university and meeting the diverse needs of the university's alumni and the alumni chapters nationwide.
Rhoades is the administrative officer for Mississippi State's College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her bachelor's degree from the university in 1970 and her master's in business administration in 1971.
She has been active in the alumni association for many years, serving on the national board of directors since 1990. Rhoades also has been on the board of the Oktibbeha County Chapter of the alumni association for 16 years. She is a member of the Starkville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Starkville/MSU Symphony Association.
