Faculty to consider changing name of council at Feb. 23 meeting

A special business meeting of the general faculty is scheduled for Feb. 23, 3 p.m., in Lee Hall auditorium.

The purpose of the meeting is to vote on a proposal to change the name of the Robert Holland Faculty Council to the Robert Holland Faculty Senate.

A quorum of 250 eligible voting members is necessary to conduct business. In the absence of a quorum, any business requiring a vote may be conducted by mail vote within one month of the meeting date.

The name change will not change the organization or mission of the university's faculty representative body. The council's mission is to make recommendations to the president, consider all matters brought before it, and keep the general faculty informed.

The name change would make the name of the body consistent with those at other public universities in the state.
