Arts/Humanities/International

Program: Grant Programs
Agency: Graham Foundation
Next Deadline: JUL 15, 1995

Supports advanced level architectural projects and other arts ventures that directly contribute to architecture. Funding areas include grants to schools for special projects, new curricula, exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, fellowships and internships at international schools of architecture and at museums. Grants are usually reserved for the beginning stages of a project and normally do not exceed $10,000. Deadline dates are postmark deadlines.

Education/Human and Community Development

Program: Dwight D. Eisenhower Professional Development -- Federal Activities
Agency: U.S. Department of Education
Next Deadline: JUN 15, 1995

Supports demonstration projects to improve K-12 teaching in math and science and other core curriculumareas, including English, foreign languages, civics,the arts, history, economics, and geography. The program was reauthorized in 1994. This competition will be the first since it was revamped. ED expects to publish FY 95 program priorities and competition information in the Federal Register in mid-April 1995.

Health/Mental Health

Program: Comparative Medicine Research Program Projects
Agency: National Center for Research Resources
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995

Supports multidisciplinary research program projects focusing on biomedical research related to laboratory animal medicine, pathology and science. Each CMRPP should carry out research on three to six specific projects in laboratory animal studies that are each under the direction of an experienced investigator. In addition, each CMRPP must have a core support unit to provide administrative services. Applicant institutions should already have substantial and established research programs involving laboratory animals.

Program: Eye Research
Agency: National Eye Institute
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995

Supports research related to the prevention, etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases and disorders of the visual system. Major areas are retinal and choroidal diseases; corneal diseases (including cataracts and glaucoma); strabismus, amblyopia and visual processing (including low vision and rehabilitation); and collaborative clinical research. Studies may range from an attempt to elucidate a fundamental biological process to the development and testing of a specific therapeutic technique.

Program: Heart, Lung, and Blood Research
Agency: National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995

Heart and Vascular Diseases Division supports basic and clinical research into such areas as hypertension, arteriosclerosis and cardiac diseases. Blood Diseases and Resources Division funds research on blood diseases, including hemophilia and sickle cell disease. Division of Lung Diseases funds research on the structure and functions of the lung and on airway diseases (including asthma and cystic fibrosis).

Science/Engineering

Program: Division of Integrative Biology and Neuroscience
Agency: National Science Foundation
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995
Target Date - proposals may be submitted at any time.

Emphasizes the integration of molecular, subcellular, and cellular biology in understanding organisms in the lab and in nature. Awards are madethrough three program areas: Physiology and Behavior (June 15 and December 15 target dates), Neuroscience (January 15 and July 15 target dates), and Developmental Mechanisms (June 1 and December 1 target dates). Program: Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences
Agency: National Science Foundation
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995
Target Date - proposals may be submitted at any time.

Supports research on the chemical, genetic, and cellular processes underlying biological phenomena, through three programs: Biochemistry and Molecular Structure and Function; Cell Biology; and Genetics and Nucleic Acids.

Program: Division of Earth Sciences
Agency: National Science Foundation
Next Deadline: JUN 01, 1995

Supports most areas of the solid-earth sciences, with emphasis on the earth's structure, properties, processes, and evolution. Programs in the division are: Geology and Paleontology, Tectonics, Geophysics, Petrology and Geochemistry, Instrumentation and Facilities, Continental Hydrologic Processes, Hydrologic Sciences, Geologic Record of Global Change, and Fundamental Earthquake Studies. The deadlines cited above are postmark, not receipt, deadlines.

Program: Undergraduate Calculus Curriculum Development Program
Agency: National Science Foundation
Next Deadline: JUN 06, 1995

Supports projects to revise and improve undergraduate calculus education. Emphasis will be placed on the basic concepts of calculus and the relationship between calculus and other introductory materials in the mathematical sciences. Program focuses on support for projects with the greatest potential for contributing to long-term progress towards the revitalization of calculus instruction.
