Prof assumes presidency of national business education organization


Connie M. Forde became the president of a national professional organization July 1.

The business education professor will lead the 14,000-member National Business Education Association for a one-year term. NBEA is the professional organization for individuals and groups involved in instruction, administration and research for and about business.

"Among its goals are to prepare individuals for successful careers in business and to prepare a competent workforce for a competitive global economy," Forde said.

She has been active in NBEA, serving as a member of the executive board and of a number of committees, including policies and procedures and membership. She also has been a member of the President's Council.

She is a member of the Mississippi Business Education Association and of the Mississippi Association of Vocational Educators. She holds membership in the Delta Pi Epsilon and Phi Delta Kappa academic honoraries.

Forde won the Mississippi Outstanding Business Educator Award in 1990, the Mississippi State University College of Education Outstanding Research Award in 1993 and the Southern Business Education Outstanding Educator Award in 1991.

She joined the Mississippi State faculty in 1987 after working as a business instructor at Jones Junior College and the Covington County Vocational Complex.
