Program: Mellon Resident Research Fellowships
Agency: American Philosophical Society Library
Next Deadline: MAR 01, 1996
One to three month residential fellowships support postdoctoral scholars or Ph.D. candidates to conduct research in the Library's collection. Subject areas include: early American history and culture; American Indian Language; 18th and 19th-century natural history; anthropology; biochemistry, physiology, and biophysics; 20th-century medical research; genetics and eugenics; and modern physics. Stipend is $1,900 per month.
Program: Residential Fellowships
Agency: Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts
Next Deadline: MAR 21, 1996
Four types of residential fellowships support research at the Center on the history, theory, and criticism of art, architecture, and urbanism. Senior Fellowships are for one academic year (deadline October 1); Visiting Senior Fellowships are for up to 60 days (deadlines March 21 and September 21); Senior Associate appointments offer use of the Center's facilities for those with other financial support (March 21 and September 21 deadlines); and Predoctoral Fellowships support doctoral dissertation research (November 15 deadline).
Education/Human and Community Development
Program: Grant Program
Agency: Bradley (Lynde and Harry) Foundation, Inc.
Next Deadline: MAR 01, 1996
Primarily gives in Wisconsin, but also supports two national programs. Public Affairs program funds research on national public policy and international and strategic policy research. Education Program funds projects in higher education (research on the moral, cultural, intellectual, and economic roots of the institutions that form a free society), and gifted children (research into how children learn and instruction demonstration programs). Deadlines are 3/01, 7/01, 9/01, and 12/01.
Program: Bill Geer Minigrant Award Program
Agency: Foundation for Exceptional Children
Next Deadline: MAR 01, 1996
Minigrant awards of up to $500 are available for innovative education-related projects that directly benefit disabled or gifted children or youth. Projects must provide direct services to disabled or gifted children or youth, parents of disabled children, or unemployed disabled youth.
Program: ArtsLink
Agency: Citizen Exchange Council
Next Deadline: MAR 01, 1996
Enables U.S. artists and arts organizations to work collaboratively with counterparts in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and the Baltics. Consists of two subcategories: ArtsLink Collaborative Projects (3/01 deadline) provide travel expenses for individual artists or groups to allow exchanges with colleagues. ArtsLink Residencies (5/30 deadline) allow U.S. organizations, including universities, to host artists from eligible countries for a five-week residency program. Program is jointly funded by NEA.

Program: Fellowships in Cancer Research
Agency: American Cancer Society
Next Deadline: MAR 01, 1996
Supports career development and training of cancer researchers through: Postdoctoral Fellowships; Physician Research Training Awards; Junior Faculty Research Awards; Junior Clinical Research Awards; Scholars in Cancer Research; Research Professorships; and Clinical Research Professorships. Postdoctoral Fellowships and Physicians' Research Training Fellowships are awarded to individuals. Deadlines are 3/1 and 10/1, except for Research Professorships (3/1 only) and Clinical Research Professorships (10/1 only).

Supports environmental research in a variety of areas. Agency: Fats and Proteins Research Foundation, Inc.
Next Deadline: MAR 15, 1996
Supports research concerning the utilization of animal by-products processed by the rendering industry, such as blood meal, meat and bone meal, tallow, hydrolized hair, and feathermeals. Recently funded projects include studies on ecological aspects of the rendering process, and chemical, microbiological and nutritional studies.
Program: CISE Educational Infrastructure Program
Agency: National Science Foundation
Next Deadline: MAR 18, 1996
Supports the design, development, testing, and dissemination of innovative approaches for increasing the effectiveness of the undergraduate experience in the fields of computer and information science, computer engineering, computational science, and artificial intelligence. Support will be provided for curriculum development, faculty enhancement, software or other educational materials development, or equipment acquisition and maintenance. Eligible institutions must offer the baccalaureate degree in any of the fields noted above.
