Commitee to draft governance document

With no committee reports and little new business to consider--plus the fact that the Martin Luther King holiday weekend was about to begin--the Holland Faculty Senate concluded its first 1996 meeting in slightly more than an hour.

A good portion of the Jan. 12 meeting was taken up with both informal and formal discussions of the proposed "Principles for University Governance" document that is scheduled to be voted on this semester by the general faculty.

In the new business category, senators voted to send to a special ad hoc committee a draft of the document that included comments received in the President's Office from various campus constituencies.

The draft document, as well as a complete summary of other matters at the January meeting can be read on the Faculty Senate Home Page at http://www.msstate.edu/Org/FS/faculty_senate.html.
