Young entrepreneur to bring his story here

The author of a guide to college and post-graduate success will speak Jan. 25 at Mississippi State.

"Major in Success: Making College Easier, Beat the System and Get a Very Cool Job" (Ten-Speed Press) is the title of 29-year-old Patrick Combs' book and national lecture series.

The free program featuring Combs will begin at 8 p.m. in the Colvard Union's third-floor small auditorium. The Campus Activities Board is sponsor.

In his first year out of San Francisco State University, Combs made a reported $80,000 through a combination of jobs, among them as a videoconferencing manager for Levi Strauss and Co. and as a producer for a Fortune 500 leadership event called "A Day in the Future."

He also has had success carrying his messages to college students and was nominated by Campus Activities Today magazine as 1995 lecturer of the year.

Combs has been featured on national news and talk show programs, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today.

For more information on his Mississippi State lecture, telephone Beth Waltrip at 325-2930.
