Korean participants in the College of Business and Industry's International Business Strategy Program have pledged $100,000 over the next 10 years to support the program.
Officials from Kwangwoon University's Advanced Management Program in Seoul, Korea, were on campus recently to make the initial gift of $10,000 toward the $100,000 commitment, which will support scholarships, faculty fellowships and other activities of the program.
"The gift is in recognition of the contribution the International Business Strategy Program has made to the education of Korean small business owners and managers in preparation for the 21st century," said Dr. J.P. Shim, professor of information systems and director of the International Business Strategy Program at Mississippi State.
Begun in 1991, the International Business Strategy Program hosts groups of Korean business managers for lectures and seminars on the advantages of cross-cultural management, information technology and strategic competitiveness. The program also includes tours of factories in the United States and in Korea. In addition, more than 10 College of Business and Industry faculty members have traveled to Korea to conduct classes.
Participants earn certificates by successfully completing three intensive sessions of the program.
