Jeffery Scott Elwell, director of theater in the Communication Department, is seeing his third play in a year performed on New York City's Theater Row. His comedy, "Stepping Out," will be produced in a one-act festival Feb. 2-4 in the Theater District. In addition, two of his other plays were performed regionally recently. "The Art of Dating" was produced by Mill Mountain Regional Theater of Roanoke, Va., and "Fenced In" had a staged reading in St. Louis during an American College Theater Festival regional meeting. In February, Elwell will see publication of "The Best of the Regions," an ACTF compilation he edited. Produced with support from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., it will feature one play from each of eight regions. The book will be available for purchase at the Colvard Union Bookstore or may be perused at Mitchell Memorial Library.
