Community and university dignitaries were on hand for recent groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Diagnostic Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory at the Mississippi Research and Technology Park. Trying to turn over a shovelful of frozen earth were, from left, Bobby McClelland, board member for the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority; Dr. Steve Shepard, director of DIAL; Dr. Ralph Powe, vice president for research; and President Donald Zacharias. The 54,000-square-foot building will be constructed on eight acres. It is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and matching state funds.
