March '96: A Celebration of Women


March is chock-full of activities to celebrate women, ranging from a library display of Civil War women to the performance of a play dealing with women's emotions.

The month-long observance is sponsored by the President's Commission on the Status of Women.

Events and dates include:

4--Brown-bag lunch with Monica Banks, Oktibbeha County chancery clerk, noon, Holmes Cultural Diversity Center. Contact Don Howard, 325-2033.

5--Dedication and opening of the Women's Resource Center, 2-3:30 p.m., Rice Hall, sponsored by Center for Women's Studies. Contact Ashley Graham, 325-8971.

AFROTC drill team demonstration, 3:30 p.m., Drill Field, sponsored by AFROTC Detachment 425. Contact Kim Bell, 325-0223.

6--"Gold from the fire: a celebration of a woman's resilient heart--rebounding and growth from loss," lecture by Deborah Palmer, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 309 Colvard Union, sponsored by the Graduate Student Association and The Counseling Center. Contact Shandra Wilson, 324-2625.

"Many Roads, One Destination: Balancing Personal and Professional Life," panel discussion, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Colvard Union ballroom, brown-bag lunch, sponsored by Counselor Education and Educational Psychology. Contact Merrily Dunn, 325-7100.

"Atomic Field," play by Kenneth Robbins, 8 p.m., McComas Theater, sponsored by Department of Communication. Play deals with a family's struggle and the impending death of the patriarch.
