New core classes set for fall semester

Four new core classes will be offered this fall in response to staff requests.

In a 1995 survey, conducted by the Professional and Support Staff Advisory Council, staff members complained that no core classes were offered after work hours. Several were requested and the following are scheduled for the 1996 fall semester: CS 1013 basic computer concepts, EN 1103 English composition I, MA 1313 college algebra, and TKT 4273 microcomputers in education.

CS 1013 is set for 6-8:50 p.m. on Tuesdays in Butler Hall. The course has a maximum enrollment of 30 with 10 slots reserved exclusively for non-traditional students. Two night laboratory sections have been added on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6-7:50, in the Hilbun 2 laboratory.

MA 1313 will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday nights, 7-8:15. The other classes will be offered at night, but no times have been set.

"Anyone interested in these classes who meets university eligibility requirements, particularly professional and support staff and other non-traditional students, are encouraged to pre-register because the classes may fill up quickly," said Linda Gentry, PSSAC chair.

Mississippi State employees should submit a tuition remission waiver from Human Resources Management before pre-registering. Pre-registration ends April 17.

For more information on these and other classes, contact the Registrar's Office at 325-2023.
