

Fall computing courses slated
Short classes conducted by the Computing Center will begin this month.
The Information Systems and User Support computer classes are open to students, faculty and staff. Sign up is not required.
All courses are free of charge and all will be held in 13 Allen. Monday and Wednesday classes are 3-5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday classes are 3:15-5 p.m. Courses include:
- Sept. 23, WINDOWS 95-Tips on using Windows 95, plus many features of Windows 95 will be discussed, including improved memory handling, improved multimedia, plug and play, etc.
- Sept. 24, WINDOWS 95 and Web Browsers-This class will explain how to connect to the Internet using Web Browsers in Windows 95. In addition, other features will be explained, such as how to read mail and use telnet on Netscape.
- Sept. 25, UNIX COMMANDS and THE WEB-Useful Unix commands for setting up pages on the Web will be explained. Web pages at Mississippi State reside on Unix servers. If you set up Web pages, you will want to know these Unix commands.
- Sept. 26, BASIC HTML-HTML is the HyperText Markup Language used in Netscape and other Web browsers. Included will be basic markup tags, linking, inline images, tables, and much more.
- Sept. 30, AN INTRODUCTION TO MAC O/S-This class will present basic and intermediate concepts of the Macintosh operating system.
- Oct. 1, THE MACINTOSH, MSU AND THE INTERNET-This class will discuss connecting to MSU's campus network and the Internet using the Macintosh operating system.
- Oct. 2, SPSS WINDOWS 7.0-Statistical package for the social sciences. An easy-to-use statistical package. Some of the features shown in this class will be how to use the point and click features or write your own syntax.
- Oct. 3, SAS WINDOWS 6.11-A popular Windows statistical package. A demonstration of SAS 6.11 Windows, followed by a review of SAS syntax.
