Proposals sought for Giles grant

Proposals for the Giles Distinguished Professors University Enrichment Grant are being accepted through Jan. 31 in the Office of the Vice President for Research.

The program supports activities or purchases that enrich the research, teaching or service missions of the university and will be awarded on a competitive basis.

Some $15,000 in funding is available this year and proposals may be submitted by any faculty or staff members or students.

Grant proposals should be brief and will be judged on their potential for university enrichment and may be for the total or a portion of the available funding. A committee of the Giles Distinguished Professors will evaluate the requests.

Grants will be awarded in February and it is expected that recipients will use the funds in the 1997 calendar year. Normal university accounting procedures must be followed and a brief, final report on activities and results will be required on each grant. In addition, recipients will meet with the Giles Distinguished Professors during the 1997 fall semester.

Forms may be obtained from the Office of Vice President for Research and must be submitted by Jan. 31. Proposals should be submitted to the Giles Distinguished Professors, c/o The Vice President for Research, Mail Stop 9722.
