

Program: Fund for U.S. Artists at International Festivals/Exhibitions

Supports individual U.S. performers or U.S. performing arts groups who have been invited to international festivals, but need additional support, such as travel and per diem expenses. Program is particularly interested in proposals that reflect the cultural diversity of the U.S. and involve events in areas of the world where U.S. work is rarely performed. Graduate-level, predoctoral, postdoctoral and senior residential fellowships support research in the following areas: anthropology; archaeology; astrophysics and astronomy; earth sciences; ecology, behavioral, and environmental sciences; evolutionary and systematic biology; history of science and technology; art history; and social and cultural history of the United States. Program: Graduate Assistance in Areas of
National Need

Awards grants to academic departments, programs and other academic units that offer graduate degree courses. The program allows grantees to provide fellowships to graduate students with financial need who plan to teach or conduct research in areas of national need. The designated areas for FY 98 will include biology, chemistry, computer and information science, engineering, math, and physics. The Department expects to announce the FY 98 program around mid-October with a tentative January deadline.
Program: Predoctoral Minority Fellowships Agency: American Psychological Association

With funding from the National Institute of Mental Health and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, grants go to minority students (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) beginning or continuing graduate studies leading to the doctorate in psychology or the neurosciences. Award categories are psychology research training, neuroscience research training, psychology aging training, and psychology clinical training. Fellowships may be extended for up to three years. Program: NASA Summer Faculty Fellowships Program

Program: Implementation and Development Projects for Women and Girls

Supports major projects to advance women's and girls' scientific, technical and mathematical interests and aptitudes. Projects may involve curricula, model studies, conferences, and outreach activities. Institutional consortia are eligible. Required pre-proposals are due on October 1 (projects costing less than $100,000 per year) and January 2 (projects costing more than $100,000 per year).
