A display commemorating October as Disability Awareness Month may be found in two locations on the second floor of Mitchell Memorial Library.
The second-floor lobby display features lists and photographs of famous people with disabilities from George Washington to Tom Cruise. There also is information available on assistive technology and how these innovations aid individuals with disabilities to live independently, as well as the myths and facts of employing persons with disabilities.
Material on centers and services at Mississippi State is included in the exhibit.
Highlights of the second-floor government documents/microforms room display include information on the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, the Mississippi Talking Book and Braille Service and the Mississippi Radio Reading Program.
The displays are sponsored by the library's Americans with Disabilities Act Committee. Materials were donated by Student Support Services, T.K. Martin Center, Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision, Mississippi Talking Book and Braille Services, and Government Documents.
