Jack Blendinger, educational leadership, served as resident scholar at the Leadership Skills Institute sponsored by Phi Delta Kappa at Southwest State University (Minn.). The institute's theme was "Discipline Without Punishment for Students Living in a Diverse World" and Blendinger served as its keynote speaker, taught workshops, visited professional education classes, and facilitated creative brainstorming sessions in search of a student discipline system for the 21st century. In addition, he was honored for co-authoring two monographs internationally published by Phi Delta Kappa and used throughout the world: "Win-Win Discipline" and "Controlling Aggressive Students." MSU professors who were members of the monograph writing teams were Linda Cornelious, Sandra Devlin, Frank Elrod, Vincent McGrath, and the late Cindy Rose.


Yohna Chambers, Human Resources Management, was featured in a recent newsletter published by the Southeast Regional College and University Personnel Association for her work to organize the group's regional meeting.


Paula Jernigan, Human Resources Management, was elected vice president of the Mississippi chapter of the College and University Personnel Association. She will serve as president next year.


J.P. Shim, management and information systems, was recently reappointed by South Korean President Kim Young Sam to the Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification. The council advises the South Korean government on strategies for its eventual reunification with North Korea.
