Dr. George Miller, a research scientist with the Diagnostic Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory, is receiving a three-year, $538,000 grant from the Department of Energy.
The project involves basic research in chemical instrumentation, which could be used for safety monitoring of processes for waste disposal at DOE sites. Funding is provided through the Office of Environmental Management's Mixed Waste Focus Area.
Miller will be collaborating on the project with Dr. Chris Winstead, also a DIAL research scientist.
The research effort will look at ways to improve the management and disposal of radioactive, hazardous chemical and mixed waste materials.
