Sonny Fisher, director of the Small Business Development Center, recently received certification as a business counselor, meeting the established standards set forth by the SBDC and the Small Businesss Administration. Fisher also attended the Association of Small Business Development Centers' national conference in Keystone, Colo., this year.
A poem written by University Television Center director David N. Hutto was featured recently on National Public Radio's "Weekend All Things Considered." The poem, "When Autumn Comes," was written by Hutto during a New England hiking vacation.
Glen Hendren, Department of Counselor Education and Educational Psychology, delivered the 1997 Louis P. Ortale Memorial Lecture to the Job Placement and Development Division of the National Rehabilitation Association at their national conference in Tulsa, Okla. A copy of his lecture will be published in the journal of the JPDD.
M.J. Plodinec, Diagnostic Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory, gave an invited talk on the decontamination and decommission of melters used for the immobilization of radioactive waste at the Second International Workshop on the Immobilization of Radioactive Waste. Plodinec also has been invited to participate in a panel examining the role of universities in U.S. radioactive waste clean-up efforts.
