The Mississippi State University Libraries is sponsoring a "Name the Online Public Access Catalog" contest.
All graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to select an appropriate name for the automated catalog which provides access to the libraries' materials and databases.
Library student assistants are not eligible to participate, however.
Entries must be submitted by March 3, with the winner announced March 17. The winner will be awarded a copy card good for 1,000 photocopies in the library.
Among names of existing online catalogs in the state (some are acronyms) are CLIDA (Cooperative Libraries Information Database Access) at Mississippi University for Women, MERLIN at Delta State University and OSCAR (Online System for Computer Assisted Retrieval) at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Entries may be submitted on paper and placed in the contest box inside the front entrace of Mitchell Memorial, or electronically on the Online Catalog.
For entry details or for more information, call Eula Betts, coordinator of cataloging services, at 325-7666, or via electronic mail at ebetts@library.msstate.edu; or Stephen Cunetto, systems supervisor, 325-8542, scunetto@library.msstate.edu.
