Judge John J. Fraiser Jr. of Greenwood (l) received a double honor this week at Mississippi State. In addition to being named the Pre-Law Society's Distinguished Jurist of 1977, the retired chief justice of the Mississippi Court of Appeals got a surprise from his former colleagues on the bench. At the conclusion of the awards program, current Chief Judge Billy Bridges of Brandon presented Fraiser with the robe he wore for more than two years as the head of Mississippi's newest court. A Mississippi State alumnus, Fraiser retired in January.
