Karaoke, decathlon highlight 1997 SAD

Professional and support staff members better warm up their voices because it's karaoke time at this year's Staff Appreciation Day.

The annual event, sponsored by the Professional and Support Staff Advisory Council, is held to honor staff members. The 1997 version is scheduled for May 16, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., on the Drill Field (Humphrey Coliseum in case of rain).

A complimentary lunch will be served 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Instead of a live band this year, local radio personality Butch Luke will provide the music for karaoke sessions where MSU employees can "perform" to songs. Singers can pick out a favorite tune to sing during SAD or preview a songbook in advance by calling any of the following people (all 325 numbers): Vanessa Cunningham, 3228; Ralph Olivieri, 1332; Sheila Coleman, 0831; Patsy Douglas or Julie Joiner, 1687; or the Alumni Association, 2434.

Staff members will receive a door prize entry form in the mail. After completing it and mailing it back in, they will be eligible for the giveaways. You do not have to be present to win.

Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Parking may be found behind McCarthy Gym.
