Kudos

Eugene P. Columbus, agricultural and biological engineering, is a recent initiate of Gamma Sigma Delta agriculture honor society. GSD promotes the advancement and improvement of relations of agriculture to other industries, and encourages excellence in both academics and the practice of agricultural pursuits.


College of Arts and Sciences Dean Frank "Skip" Saal served as the Air Force ROTC's speaker and honored guest during its annual spring "Pass in Review." Col. Patricia McKelvy praised Saal for his support of AFROTC, which includes providing a grant to replace the detachment's classroom computer. In addition, he was presented the AFROTC Outstanding Service Award at Spring Dining Out Services.


Thomas H. Fisher
Fisher
Thomas H. Fisher, chemistry, received a 1997 Alumni Achievement Award from his alma mater, Westminster College. He is a 1960 summa cum laude graduate of the Fulton, Mo., school.



Robert McCarty
McCarty
Robert McCarty, division head with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and director of the Bureau of Plant Industry, received the Delta Council's Special Recognition for Outstanding Service to Mississippi Agriculture Award. Delta Council cited McCarty for his initiative in creating pesticide container recycling, waste pesticide disposal and environmental stewardship programs.
