Dr. Marvin L. Salin, biochemistry and molecular biology, recently was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal by the Department of the Army.
The award was presented to Salin for his servicee as a visiting professor in the Department of Chemistry at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
During the one-year visiting professorship, Salin taught biochemistry and organic chemistry, and advised cadets and staff members on research projects.
He also served as an academic adviser to the varsity cross-country and track teams.
