Tennis court lights now on timers

Avid tennis players now can serve 'em up any time of the night thanks to new timers on the lighted courts behind McCarthy Gym.

According to Mark Garneau of Recreational Sports, the timers replace the old method of turning the lights on at dusk and turning them off at midnight.

"Now if someone wants to play at, say, 2 a.m., they can," Garneau said.

To use the timers, players should access the main electrical box near the courts and set the timer for the length of time they plan to play. The lights will shut off automatically when the timing cycle ends.

"These timers will save the university electricity and will allow us to have better tennis facilities," he added.
