

Date rape survivor to keynote week
A date rape survivor and sexual assault prevention advocate will deliver the keynote address at this year's Sexual Assault Awareness Week, scheduled Sept. 14-18.
Katie Koestner will present "No-Yes" in a 7:30-9 p.m. program on Sept. 16 in Lee Hall auditorium. Koestner has received national attention for speaking about her experience with date rape. In 1993, HBO aired a docudrama, "No Visible Bruises: The Katie Koestner Story," based on Koestner's life. Her television appearances include "Larry King Live," "Oprah," "NBC Nightly News," and "Entertainment Tonight."
She also appeared on the cover of the June 3, 1991, issue of Time magazine.
Besides her keynote address, Koestner will speak the same day at 3 p.m. in the Colvard Union small auditorium and at 5 p.m. at Herbert Hall. She will visit informally with students at the Alpha Gamma Delta House at 10 p.m.
The week will conclude with a "Take Back the Night Rally." The rally will begin in front of the Zeta Tau Alpha House on Sorority Row and proceed to the Amphitheater. Scheduled performers include "Night Moves," an MSU student group, "Tulane Men Against Rape," and Phi Mu Alpha. Candles will be lighted to commemorate victims.

The week is sponsored by the Sexual Assault Response Team and various other university organizations.
